One thing that scares me in : JANUARY
For you, blogger friends, who can't catch me on this title, please click here where I made this year challenge for myself. Not that my life that boring (far from that, really) or I am dying or I am in a rut so I need to challenge myself....but then I think, I don't live forever. I have to try something new once in awhile, while I still get the chance.
And what would be better than a scary new thing? (at least to me). The bright side is, I can tell my grand kids, been-there-done-that to more activities, place or food, right?
Like I said before, I'll try to do one thing every month. (Just typing that sentence makes me want to take a nap). And for this month :
I did a giveaway in my blog for the first time.
The post is here (and you still get the chance to win the giveaway until Feb 15). Many thanks to Lisa Swifka that sparks the idea, so encouraging that I eventually dare to start.
Now, you must be laughing. That is NOT a scary thing to do, you must say! That is easy! You can do giveaway whenever you want!
Let me tell you the things that scares me.
One.
Giveaways on blog is like a candy for little kids. (So I thought) After you ate the candy, you will never care what it is for dinner. It is tempting but not satisfying.
People will drawn to your blog ONLY for the giveaways, not to enjoy your posts. That's sad. Almost as hurt as when you have toothache for too much candies. Ouch. (So I thought).
Two.
I never won a giveaways or lottery or something easy pacey like that. So I simply don't believe it. Everything is come through hard work for me. How can I hosting something that I don't believe?
Three.
How if no one want your giveaway? Dang. That scary enough, alright?
(Or maybe I just read too many Ali Edwards's giveaway that drawn at least 1000 people to each post). Sigh.
And the result?
While I still can't figuring out why my name is still not on the list of Lisa's giveaway ticket holder event, after 4 emails I sent her including asking her what's wrong with my link, with no answer, I decided that after all, my goal is achieved, I had been brave enough to conquer my own fear. Everything else is secondary.
Only last week I already met lot of wonderful blogger (both from Indonesia and far away places) that came to my blog and leave warm comments and I visited many inspiring blog of theirs too. So many kindred soul out there, waiting for the right time for our path to be crossed. And our life will never be the same.
That for me, is like icing on the cake. Sweet and satisfying.
And yes, I'll do the giveaways again sometimes in the near future.
You have my word.
I totally understand your fear. I have that too. I emailed Lisa with your blog giveaway details, just in case there was some issue with your emails not getting through to her.
*hugs* Cass

Ohh, I was worried about not getting anyone to want what I was offering or that people would only want to get the giveaway and not care about my blog in general, too!! But I have to say I'm glad I did it because I have met so many wonderful people through the OWOH event already! It's such a great experience-I hope you have the same, too!!

You are # 950 on Lisa's OWOH site. Have a look. I love your artwork! I am glad you stopped by my log so I could find you. Your classes look like fun and you have loads of scrapping classmates. It is nice to meet you.

It is scary, I will agree with you. My fear is also that noone will actually want the work that I put my heart into. Turns out that's not the case and I'm so glad you decided to join in. This has been so much fun and it's so nice to meet you!

Hi Ria
Thank you for visiting my blog and your comment, and yes I have found you too in Lisa's list.
And I was scared too to post something, but my mailbox is pulling out, and guess what I visit almost all the blogs but had leave on one blog a comment, only it was the only way that I could thank her, not even for the giveaway, because I mostly win nothing too. So welcome to the club. I think a lot of people will reconised theirself in your post.
Have a wonderful and very creative weekend,
Mar
