Scrapgathering - photo transfer

This is the layout that I made on scrapgathering yesterday using the photo transfer methods. (You can find the steps below)

The time spent with these girls were always a good time. Tiara couldn't come 'cause she still at Yogyakarta..huhuhu...and thank you Alice for adding the pictures.....

Here I share with you the simple steps for photo transfer technique:

  • Take a black and white photocopies or color laser copies of the photos that you want to work with. Please note, that ink-jet prints copies could not be used for this method because we'll use water later. It will run out.
  • You can use clear packing tape for small photos, or laminating clear sticker that we usually use at Scrapking to laminate photos, or contact paper ( you may find it at any leading book store) if you have larger size of photo.
  • Peel the protective backing of the laminate sheet and carefully press the sticky side of the sticker to the copied images of your photo.
  • Burnish the surface with bone folder or other burnishing tools. Give it a really good rub to make sure it stick together well.
  • Soak the whole piece in a bowl of water for several minutes.
  • Gently rub off the back of the paper with your fingertips. (Alice said don't do this kind of method just after you done your manicure or you'll regret it! LOL)
  • Your image will remain in the sticky surface and appear completely transparent!
  • Lay your transferred image on top of another surface to allow the background to show through.(If you look at the photo at my layout here, I used little polka dots pink pattern paper for my background) If the sticker isn't sticky enough, you can use gel medium to put the image down.

We all fall in love with this method and think to share it with you in the class for next month. So don't miss it! Thank you, girls!

February 2009 - Life Project

Remember what do you loved as a kid?
As a teenager?
As a fresh graduate when you eagerly started to work?
As a new mom?
Some of us will easily remember, when the others are easily forget everything...(like me,inevitable)
So why don't you start today to record What You Love now?
And...not to say we do it while we still in the month of Love, right?
Here are the details :

I made this album for February and March project classes at Scrapking (Foodhall - Grand Indonesia). I rushed to finish the book for project's sample, I forgot to add the details. Later, I will put tags on every subject about the current things that I love NOW. I realize that when many things will remain the same no matter how many years, let's say, for books and quotes...., it will be exciting to find this album in 10 years time from now, to see what book that I love TODAY.

What do you think?

Love to coming home

Before I went last week, I changed our home door sign from Chinese New Year ornament to This.
Dea saw it and asked me,"Mom..the kite is already worn out. Why you still hang it?"
"Oh, I love it, honey. Nothing have to be perfect, just like our home."
When I came back on Monday, I noticed she add the flower to cover up the paper shred at the end of the kite.
I had the biggest grin on my face.
She is exactly my girl.
She did exactly what I will do.

Love is here

Love is what you have on valentine's day.
Love is what you have all day all year long.
Love is what I feel when me and Audy celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.
Love is what I feel everyday with him by my side.
Love is laughters and tears.
Love is my family time.
Love is my kids.
Love is working on what you have in your hands instead of hoping for something you don't know.
Love is making this page (above) from the scrap of paper that I used to put my acrylic paint for base of my painting (below), so even yellow is not my favorite color, I work with that (Don't you have to do that too with people, sometimes?)

So, love is definitely here.

Before turning 36

Documenting the journey is being honest with yourself.
Here I put them in a two-pages layout I made yesterday.
The picture was taken by Audy last month.
Practically the last close up picture of me being 35.

Here are some of the 35 things I wrote inside all the tag:

I wish my mom did a journal like this when she was my age, so I'll know her better.
Now, I better go to sleep.
Night night.

Happy is here

Look what I got in the morning!
They're the best gifts, don't you agree?

And the cake. My kids said,"Mom, you have to blow candles...." For them, there is no birthday without the cake and blowing candle issue. So, we got the cake.

What do you mean eat the cake? Of course I eat the cake. It's tiramisu....yummm.
Happy. Simply happy.
Thank you for all your wonderful wishes by phone, sms and facebook. Simply grateful for you all.
Happy is here.

Let me tell you a story....

Heaven and hell

A man, his horse and his dog were traveling down a road. When they were passing by a gigantic tree, a bolt of lightning struck and they all fell dead on the spot.
But the man did not realize that he had already left this world, so he went on walking with his two animals; sometimes the dead take time to understand their new condition...

The journey was very long, uphill, the sun was strong and they were covered in sweat and very thirsty. They were desperately in need of water. At a bend in the road they spotted a magnificent gateway, all in marble, which led to a square paved with blocks of gold and with a fountain in the center that spouted forth crystalline water.
The traveler went up to the man guarding the gate.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning,” answered the man.

“What is this beautiful place?”

“This is heaven.”

“How good to have reached heaven, we’re ever so thirsty.”

“You can come in and drink all you want.”

And the guard pointed to the fountain.
“My horse and my dog are thirsty too.”

“So sorry, but animals aren’t allowed in here.”

The man was very disappointed because his thirst was great, but he could not drink alone; he thanked the man and went on his way. After traveling a lot, they arrived exhausted at a farm whose entrance was marked with an old doorway that opened onto a tree-lined dirt road.
A man was lying down in the shadow of one of the trees, his head covered with a hat, perhaps asleep.

“Good morning,” said the traveler.

The man nodded his head.
“We are very thirsty - me, my horse and my dog.”

“There is a spring over in those stones,” said the man, pointing to the spot. “Drink as much as you like.”

The man, the horse and the dog went to the spring and quenched their thirst. Then the traveler went back to thank the man.

“By the way, what’s this place called?”

“Heaven.”

“Heaven? But the guard at the marble gate back there said that was heaven!”

“That’s not heaven, that’s hell.”

The traveler was puzzled.
“You’ve got to stop this! All this false information must cause enormous confusion!”

The man smiled:

“Not at all. As a matter of fact they do us a great favor. Because over there stay all those who are even capable of abandoning their best friends...”

Have you abandoned your best friends lately?

Time - Illustration Friday

After so many times I miss IF challenge (Oh yes, that's always a will, but then, Oh, boy, it's Thursday already? Okay then, I'll just wait for the new topic tomorrow and will do it...Hm, sounds familiar to you?), I manage myself to stay at home the whole day today to have all the fun. Not to say that I also need some quiet time to recharge my mind.

Not a bad time at all.

Hope yours also a wonderful one.

Just when I think.....

The hardest battle a human being will be facing are these :

1. When knowing you should let go of something you hold dearly.
Person.
Things.
An idea.
Dreams.

2. Days after you let go.
Sometimes days becomes months, months become years.

3. And the final kick is when you just think that you are succesfully letting it go, when it comes back in front of your face and you don't know what the right thing to do. At all.

Just when I think I've learnt my lesson well.
