Eat&Eat Surabaya - decoration project
As my destiny as an interior decorator continue
in a major clashing deadline
with all my scrapbook classes and stuff,
I am grateful.
Decorating another Eat&Eat food court
which began years ago here,
and then the second here,
They open another one at Surabaya city soon.
This time,
I want to make SOHO district(Hongkong)
atmosphere blend into the design
of the food court,
in many details possibly imagined.
So to make their motto alive :
CrEATing Food Adventure
As I often say and feel,
interior decorating is much like scrapbooking
(well, at least, for me)
since the process is quite the same.
The difference is
the interior decor is 3D jumbo scale scrapbook!
First I start with the background
of the space.
Then I add structure
and placing the main focus
And do lots and lots of layering
and add massive details
As I always love to walk through
small stores, market, night stands,
those experiences recorded in my mind
in a very strange way
that it become easy for me
to create the atmosphere that I want.
I made an old style boutique/tailor
that become rare and rarer to find these days.
Lots of store's signage in Chinese
are very common view in Hongkong
An old style toy store
which surely bring back smiles
and happy memories.
Without a fruit & candy's store,
how can a district become alive?
Sadly,
the main building where this Eat&Eat located
is still not yet finished.
So the problem, as always,
are electricity and cleanliness
that prohibit it to open as planned,
and more area of the place
cannot be photographed by the time
me and my team have to go back to Bandung
cause the light is not enough.
Here are some more spots
There.
Another work of heart
from my wonderful team of decor.
This time,
the team included my ol' dad
who is capable to write all the
Chinese signage that shown here.
Thanks, dad!
If you are in Surabaya,
or go there someday,
do plan a visit for this place,
very near Tunjungan Plaza 1.
For the love of good food that hand picked
by Mr.Iwan Tjandra a.k.a Iwan Combro himself,
and for the adventure of the eyes.
I'll be back!
