Holiday, here we come.

Holiday is just around the corner.

Beside packing activity (Well,lots of it),

since we will go somewhere cold enough

that we need so many jackets and thick coats,

I finished my teaching agenda for 2011

so I have 'spare' nights to bear

inside my studio.

*slip a happy face here*

Then I decided to build the album

for my next holiday trip,

so when we get back, the long to do list

(beside the laundry) will be shorter.

Well, that's some plan.

Promised to tell you,
we will go toooo.......

The base of the album was made by Suryanti,

who always succeeded to bring cute things

to scrapbook world for us to alter and enjoy.

*grin*

So my job was covering the album with

this beautiful traveling line from K&co,

adding the pages and making the cover!

Tadaaaa.....

Thrilling already to imagine these pages

which will be filled with many pictures

and stories.

Christmas is only a few days away now.

I can smell Christmas everywhere.

Glad that my Christmas album's classes

at Made With Love

all wrapped up successfully.

So so sorry for you who couldn't join in,

all the kits were sold out.

I enjoy making blank album every December,

so when the holiday is over

and January kicks in with all its new tasks,

I simply print all the photos during December

and put them nicely to the album.

That's what I call a plan.

Sample Project One - Prima Canvas Album

Today

I finally finished making

my first sample project for MWL.

This project is not for class,

only for their display at the stores.

Been given this Prima Canvas Album

almost two months before,

as usual, I did the project part by part,

color by color, page by page.

Even to find the right color combination

took me weeks.

Here is the cover...

I love it.

Now

Let's crack the album up!

Inside are canvas pages and plastic covers

so I sandwiched them in between each other

for pleasuring texture.

Look closer to how I did the border

around the picture.

Rather than using StazOn in the past,

I use other medium that gave

more altered look.

Ask me what to use in case you're interested

in trying too, ok?

Notice the interesting distress color

at the side of the page?

The canvas media forced me to think of

many different ways to alter and color them.

Especially love how this rich tone come up

after the first and second attempt

didn't bring much luck.

Last but not least,

There are always first time for everything,

(my friend said this line recently

about other subject which brings good laugh)

and this one included.

I never tried embossing on the tissue paper

than had been pressed down using gel medium

to a canvas before.

And for the first time doing it,

I made quite a thick emboss on it.

Didn't come up as expected.

Took two nights to dried it up completely.

And still not deliver good finish texture

when I touch it.

And just in case

it will stick to other pages

that have lots of embellishments,

I chose to put this one on the end

of the album.

All pages were done.

I had much fun trying this and that.

New thing,

old thing,

favorite thing,

yucky thing,

what-the-h*ll thing.

About everything.

Then I have this one to love and cherish.

This album will be on display at MWL

about next week.

So if any of you want to look it closer,

(but nicely, please. LOL)

just stop by at the store.

to also do this kind of album at home!

Am back to 12x12.

Tell you,

it's good to be back to 12x12 layout after a while.

It could be done in an hour (or so. LOL)

And the important thing is,

it shifted the point of view

of making a 3D project

back to a flat layout again

just to refresh my mind.

The trigger was this photo of Adam,

which I found in a pile of other pictures.

He was only 14 months in this photo,

and just to bring back the feeling

of once having a 14 months baby boy

(this cute)

was enough to make me weep.

Enjoy the details..

And while the night was young,

why didn't I continue to second layout?

Rocket Age - a pleasure project

My love affair with October Afternoon

has been going on long enough....

and giving no signal of decreasing.

*ahem*

I HAVE TO have all their lines,

*yeeees*

and I hold to this one since they first

released to the market.

Rocket Age series.

Oh, how I imagine the fun project with this

for my son's interest with space adventures,

alien and robots...

I know I got a little behind with

making project using this lines.....

while OA are releasing more new lines...

*sigh*

But with my full daily plate

I tried my best doing it, with full spirit!

*wohooo*

I began with this particular paper.

This paper is intriguing...

not letting my mind to think ordinary.

What I did is,

I divided the paper into three parts,

using lots and lots and lots foam tapes,

to make it deep enough

so the circle lines look more obvious.

And of course,

putting the embellishment to it

is an endearing thing to do.

So I had this....

With these details....

Do you love it?

I did!

*grin*

I used a round chipboard as a base for it,

and thinking to make a round album

using that piece as a front cover.

But after a week putting the project down

for crossing other things on

my oh-so-long-to-do-list,

I thought of a better idea.

What about making it as a container?

Hmmmm.....

And inside it later,

of course will be more album to enjoy.

Not bad, huh?

And seeking for a round base for

a container, I found this biscuit can

in the kitchen.

AHAA!!

The size is a bit smaller than

the round chipboard that I already altered,

but that's fine.

I covered the exterior can with pattern papers,

and start filling in some detail.

The process of filling in the exterior can

takes me days to finished,

since I found that I want to use many of

my treasured embellishment,

because this is not for class....

this is pure pleasure project,

I can go nuts with it.

*chuckle*

The result enraptured me with happiness.

That's it.

My "Rocket Age's container" is finished.

I still have to think about the album

to put inside..

but that is a story for another day,

on another post.

More of the SMASH album - in the making

I'm back!

After the deadlines for decoration projects

are all behind me,

together with the months-before-preparations

that really drove my sense for scrap

to below zero,

*yuck*

I am back slowly

gathering all the senses,

to the Smash album.

(first post about it : here)

I throw something a bit here and there

during last month,

and now I happily finishing the pages.

Wanna show you this particular page,

where most of them coming from my mistakes

doing on other projects for classes.

I love the end result, do you?

I loovee this boy figure from

the latest series of October Afternoon,

but then, some ink dropped on his head

and ruined his blonde hair...

I decided to change his hair into black instead.

And then I got some left over Clear Rock Candy

that I usually use, almost dried, very thick,

and I decide to put them all on this

'Nothing less" card.

Although it come out very full of texture

that I most like,

it didn't match with the tone

on my sample project for Made With Love.

So I use here instead.

Based on that,

-and other mistakes-

This is the third place!

Lekker bekker

from the owner of Sagoo restaurant.

Even before you step inside,

the promise of loveliness and homey

can be seen from the windows display....

Too lovely for words, see?

The decoration property belongs to

my friend, the owner, Marisa,

who collected them for years.

Being a close friend she and I,

we share the same collect-what-we-love motto.

*grin*

She even includes the memorable dish wear

that had been collected by her grandma,

from her grandma's grandma!

Amazing.

Now,

Let's step inside!

Some of the nick nack here on the rack

are for sell.

*Wohooo....*

And behind the counter,

I add some white shelves,

of course, still with lovable ephemera.

But sorry, these ones are not for sell.

So, after you go to Eat&Eat,

Eat&Eat food adventure -number four-

at Sumarecon Mall Serpong 2,

finally open today!

We finished decorated the place

yesterday afternoon, paralleled with

Lekker Bekker, the new restaurant of

my friend Marisa who owns Sagoo restaurant.

(pictures of that place on the next post)

we presented to you....

a place where your hunger disappears

and your love for vintage re-appears.

Could you guess,

which atmosphere that we tried to bring here?

'Warung Talaga' opens at Serpong Mall

Just came back last night from Jakarta,

for two days' decoration project.

This month, me and my team are decorating

Eat&Eat food adventure,

Warung Talaga,

and Lekker Bekker,

all at the same new mall,

Sumarecon Mall Serpong 2(new building).

For this first half of work,

we managed to completed the decoration

of Warung Talaga,

because the place is not too spacious.

However,

this is their first Jakarta's branch,

so,it is interesting place to bring

your friends to hang out and enjoy

some Bandung's snacks made of tofu.

Cute place, right?

The other two places are still in progress,

and I'll be at Jkt again in a few days.

Still many to prepare.

SMASH album in the making

Before I tell you how excited I am

for today's post,

you better see the video yourself first, kay?

Very very interesting, right?

I thought my life is full enough already

with project for classes, art journal,

layouts for myself

that I am dragging my hands to make,

daily journal (Starbuck's planner),

and now this SMASH book?

Well, what can I say..

I still want this SMASH books!

And with the kindness of one of my friends,

I got the SMASH album from twopeas online.

And for the first step,

I sticked paper stash and borders

to almost every pages to make it uneven

and surprising at every page.

Then I had fun with colors.

Lots and lots of fun.

I cut a hole in the middle of the paper

to make the transparency looks fun.

I made pockets and flips

And I even stick this cute toy's packaging

to alter later on.

Fun. Fun. Fun.

After those layering and preparing

I went to the page one of the book

and put this saying :

There.

With the saying,

I claimed the book as a book of curiosity,

with no limit for daily use

or weekly, or anything boundaries

that will limit my hands to grab it

and spray, color, splash, stick, write,

draw, doodle, or else.

I just write and stick.

it is that simple.

Some of the pages already became

my favorite journal page of all times.

And I even haven't finished one book!

couple months back is this album.

Using Destination series papers

from Simple Stories,

this album can hold almost 90 photos of

my family's trip to Hongkong.

making this album was easy and fun.

PLAYTIME - a project about toys, games and childhood

I think you remember

that I promised to post some of my projects

that I taught at MWL.

Sorry, just find the spare time now! LOL.

And, to let you know,

all pictures of the whole project

were hold privately until all the classes

were finished.

That's why it takes some time to publish it.

I used an enchanting series from Crate Paper,

Emma's Shoppe for girls

and Toy Box for boys.

I found their whole kits are the best so far

in highlighting the delightful years

of girls and boys' toys and games.

I know many of you are agree with me

and also treasured these lines.

Excitedly I share with you, the PLAYTIME project,

my first special class at MWL.

This one is for girls.

First, altering the wooden white drawer..

Next,

making mini albums to put inside the drawer.

Not only one, or two, or three albums,

but seven mini albums!

Week in the Life 2011 - The Finished Album

What you do makes a difference.

So think carefully

what kind of difference

you want to make.

My Week in the Life 2011's album

finally finished.

*waving both hands*

It seems not long ago when

I prepared it here.

When it's actually 2 months ago.

*phew*

I used an 8R size picture of the day

for the opening of every day.

And the format for all

seven days' opening pages are the same.

The name of the day using black chipboard,

'remember this' 7 gypsies red tag,

the date at the bottom corner,

and the number of the day at the top corner.

It's simple.

And I love it.

Here is Day One :

As I planned,

the colors I used in this album

was kept to minimum.

Many pictures can be converted to BW easily,

while some seem have to remain with colors

to get the feel of the room,

or the activity,

or of course, the memories.

My trick was to frame the photos

and all the ephemera at the sleeves

using simple basic triangle framing.

Here you can see my left page

is framed with the red color.

Try to look the same technique

at my other pages, will you?

Using this kind of sleeves' album

is really really gave me a tremendous help

to finish the album quickly

by slip all the photos without gluing too much.

I can add more memories to it,

tickets, drawing, school newsletters,

tags, bills, recipes, love letter from the kids,

even shopping bags (yes, cool one only)

that really coming from our life

right here and now.

Decorating "Wajan" restaurant

A dear friend of me and my husband

introduced us to the owner of this restaurant.

He had one at south of Bandung,

and want to open one more at north of the city.

Been busy for two weeks

decorating the place after the renovation.

(that's why I was disappeared from blogland)

The place is very strategic,

at Sukajadi street, near PVJ mall.

and the old building is already cozy enough.

We added oldies warmth to the place

and decorate it like these

I fall in love with old books lately,

so it just make sense to put them here too.

before I finished with all of it,

looking with excitement for their preparation

to open on August 17th.

I printed them in three sizes.

The biggest 8R are for

every front pages of the day.

The 4R and 2R are for inside the sleeves.

After the Made With Love Bdg's store opening

with Destination Class in Bandung,

and two more days doing private teaching,

tonight I just get the chance to sort them.

Remember that I told you,

I made folder in my Mac for each day?

Now, all I have to do is open it

and separate all the photos day by day.

From chaos to order in less than 20 minutes.

Nice,eh?

I wish I have some free time this weekend

to begin some stuffing into the album.

This was how I left my kitchen

on the morning of Day 6 before I went to Jkt

to teach a scrapbook class.

She was in charge.

The morning class was fully loaded.

Even plus one, mba Dwita from Cirebon

who unintentionally came to the store and join!

As usual, not much time to rest

before second batch of scrappers coming in,

a nice lunch for us all.

I literally run to Starbuck downstairs

All I can say is

I had such a lovely Sunday.

cause he doesn't like watery cereal,

and he always brings down his sleep companion,

'Emeng' (means the cat),

when he gets up.

The news from last night's soccer game.

Off to work early.

Finishing up the decoration work

for Kartika Sari beverages counter

at Dago street.

Am glad with the result.

when I tidy up.

Preparing tomorrow class's instruction sheet

at the copy center.

And I've to buy a NIV bible for Adam

so I go to the book store.

Today (Yeah, TODAY!) the Harry Potter movie

is premiere here in Indonesia

(FINALLY!)

Sadly, for me, the soonest chance to see it

may be Sunday night with Audy.

So, wait for me, Harry.

Only in Bandung, my hometown,

And I have my brunch.

The kids come home from school

and have Mandarin's lesson at home.

Look at this sad face waiting for Nadea

to take her for a walk.

After dinner,

the kids back to their room and have fun

with the Big Shot machine and all the dies.

I have a guest coming from Jakarta tonight
