August 2009 - Life Project

How important is Memory?
Imagine for a moment what your life would be if you didn't have memories. Each moment would be unconnected to the next. We, scrapbookers, fight with this fear of lossing memory every single day. Cause we know deep in our heart, that memory is the critical brain function that connects us to a meaningful life.
Found this book months ago during my trip, I had many pleasures searching all kinds of challenge that will charge your memory. One of them (and the easy one) is to imagine what are the connection of the things in front of you with the memory you had in your brain. The things in front of you can be a sentence ( When I say animal, you think......when I say love, you think.....) or smells (fresh-cut grass, baby powder, cigarette smoke....), or colors......which exercise we tried to do last week in our home.
It's quite simple. We try to recall what in our memory when we specifically look at one color. So, I gather some supplies :
(I happen to had this old paint sample that my office didn't use anymore. But, you can have it from Ace Hardware or any hardware store that sell paint, or paint the chart yourself with watercolors, or from any color/scrap paper you had.)
The point is not to make as many color as you can recall, but is to really recall the memory you had about that color.
So, we made these chart together,I made the basic chart with some stamp and marker, I helped the kids to cut the color that they choose, but the rest is their choice and also what to write.
It was fun, I tell you!
And I will keep these chart for sure.
Do you notice that Adam have 4 kinds of yellow in his chart?
Nadea surprises me when she wrote 'starbuck cookies' in her chart.
I am not surprise with anything in my chart, but then Dea said she loves my chart so much because my chart is include her name and Adam's name. Cute, huh? I don't think that small detail will make her happy, but it did.
And if you wonder the green color in Audy's chart that said 'pass'....don't try too hard....he said, "I don't like this color, so I just call it 'pass'..."
Told you it was fun.

Mini parcel of past time toys

Fasting month as always be a busy time with lots of work...and....opportunities. So, for this year, I make these mini parcels filled with old school toys (yes, these toys are from my era....) so many little girls now days can enjoy them too. The parcel can be a birthday present, goody bag, or for Idul Fitri's gift for the children. Cute, right?

I enjoy so much of the time finding and putting each of them together in this adorable colorful basket. Today, I send them all to my store. Go grab them!

Adam's birthday album

Still producing more album to share at my counter.
And this time, I made one album for Adam's fifth birthday.
This one combine two shapes of chipboard album that I had, the bigger ones are for the cover and the back of the album. Inside are four smaller chipboard. I painted them all with acrylic as usual. Then sanded them for vintage effect.

And I change the ring binder that I usually used to ribbon and twill for binder. Seems nicer, don't you think?
Making so many albums in a deadline surely stressed me out. But then, I wonder, if there is no deadline, even the one that I made for myself, would I accomplished much? Well....many things would slipped away from my hands easily...and don't even mention....also from my short term memory.
So, thanks God I had these deadlines....and now, I'll be back to my table.
Have a productive day!

One Sunday Morning

One Sunday morning.
One wife that could not go back to sleep after heavy coughing.
One husband that suggested to go to the fresh market.
One wife that said, why not, and go grab her camera.
One husband that amazed, why do you bring the camera.
One wife that smiled, because I think it'll be fun.

One Sunday morning.
One vivacious time of two.
One quick escape before everybody in the market ask me to take picture of them.
One regret that I could make more beautiful pic if I have more time.
One unfathomable joy that we still can enjoy the simple thing.

Baby Moses First Album

This is the album that I told you about last week. I made it for Moses, our newest nephew in the Lee big family. I wish we live near by so I could delivered it myself instead of posting it to San Francisco. But today, Cassy send an email told me that she got this album all right...Yay! And she love it. Phew, so glad! Reading her journal about entering motherhood reminds me to my own, long time ago. Still, it's just like yesterday. Ouch.
Five pages in this album had all been stamped, sanded, glued on, tearing and painted, all with love, to make the vintage and homey feel. So noone will hesitate to pick up this album and worry about ruining it. Just hope Cassy will 'get' that and love all the texture in it....
Can't wait to see the album filled with all Moses favorite pictures!
I wish they live just near by. So I can hope in for one hour (or two...or....three...)to smell that lovely baby smell. Hmmm. Yeah.
Enjoy the mamahood while you can, will last in a blink.
Hugs from here.

Good friends, good food, and good work mean good times.

Too much of good things can be wonderful too.
So happy to gather around with the scrapbooker buddies once a month, and this time, finally.....we are in complete set + new member, Dora! Yay!
This month, we booked Bakerzin at Citos for our meeting (yummy food awaits.....yum yum....) and as always, we choose a color for dress code...and this time, is green!!
This time we tried transfering method on canvas. There is time to work, then, there is time to smile for the camera.......And don't forget about the good food part........ And before we went home.....didn't skip a chance to have a good photo shoot....which then turn out to be hilariously funny shoot, thanks to the waitress that helped us taking photos and directed our position!
Oh, so much fun!
Until our next scrapgathering...after the fasting month. Thank you, Alice, Dhani, Sisi, Tiara, Lina, Suryanti and Dora...for such good times......
